Don't be intimidated by the effin' long directions below; it was super easy to put together.
1 batch Brokeass Pizza Dough
For the inside:
8 oz. faux chicken of your choice (I used the Morningstar vegan chick'n strips)
1 Tbs canola oil
1/6 of a red onion
1/2 cup barbecue sauce of your choice
olive oil to brush on afterward
Punch down the dough after the second time, then roll out to a rectangle shape when you're ready to fill.
While the dough is rising the second time, in a medium saute pan on medium heat, add the canola oil and the chick'n strips and cook until heated through and firmed up. Remove from heat and add 1/4 cup of the barbecue sauce to the chick'n and toss to coat.
Preheat oven to 375.
In the center of the rectangle, spread the other 1/4 cup barbecue sauce onto the dough. top with the red onion that has been sliced very thinly. Top with the chick'n mix. Slice notches Down the long sides to form the beginning of the lattice (See the picture above). Fold the short ends in, then start pulling the laces you cut across from each side, alternating each side and pushing the end into the dough on the opposite side to seal it. Continue until there are no laces left.
Spray a cookie sheet with nonstick cooking spray then sprinkle cornmeal onto this. Gently lay the braid onto the cookie sheet prepared with cornmeal.
Allow to rest for about 10 minutes, then place in the oven and cook for 20-23 minutes.
Remove from oven and brush the top with olive oil (I used the Herb-Infused Olive Oil).
Allow to rest for about 10 minutes on a cutting board, then slice into 1" slices, or as you desire, and serve.
